Teen Dog Trainer Academy

We are looking for middle and high schoolers who want to take their love of dogs to the next level by joining our 6 month teen trainer academy program.

During this program you will help us train service and facility dogs in training in a variety of different settings to help prepare them for their careers!

This is a volunteer program. We are looking for reliable and passionate individuals who are able to commit to the 6 month program. We are happy to provide record of volunteer hours.

What You Will Learn:

  • The difference between service, therapy, facility and emotional support dogs

  • The basics of dog psychology

  • Basic veterinary issues, and treatments

  • Learning theory and how to teach dogs new skills

  • Service dog laws

  • Task and public manners training

  • The importance of the human-animal bond

Program Details

Online Welcome Course

We start out our program with an online welcome course for teens and their guardians. This 1 hour video call will introduce you to our organization, cover program expectations, and the scheduling details.

Program Schedule

Academy meetings will take place weekly on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30pm.

Graduation

At the end of the 6 month program, we will hold a graduation celebration to recognize the hard work of all of the students.

Cost

This program operates on a pay what you can model. Our suggested donation is $300, but you are able to donate whatever you are able, including not making a donation at all.
